If you run or own a day spa, guests come to your location in order to relax. Because of this, they expect the best of everything, including your towels. However, since purchasing new towels every day isn’t something any business can afford, it’s essential that you keep your day spa’s towels clean in order to keep reusing them for as long as possible.
Use Hot Water
Before you distribute towels to guests, wash them in moderately hot water. This will remove anything that has built up on them since the last time they were used. Also, avoid washing your spa’s towels with anything else in the cycle, like employee uniforms, that could get residual fluff on your towels.
Add Some Vinegar
Overtime, even if they are washed diligently, towels start to accumulate a musty smell. In order to avoid this with your towels, add vinegar to the cycle. Wait to add the vinegar to the washing machine until the water level is high enough to dilute the vinegar. If you run your spa’s towels through two wash cycles, you can add baking soda to the second wash. However, avoid washing your towels with vinegar and baking soda at the same time.
Avoid Fabric Softener
Although this may seem counterintuitive, do not use fabric softener when you stick your spa’s towels in the dryer. Fabric softeners are known to coat fabric surfaces with a layer of chemicals that reduces the absorbency of towels and causes them to feel waxy on the surface.
After you follow these washing tips, your towels should come out of the wash fluffier, cleaner, and smelling better than ever before, something every one of your clients will appreciate. However, in order to keep your clients happy, it’s important that you purchase towels, washcloths, and hand towels from a wholesale supplier every few months, and get rid of the towels that have seen better days.
